A fantastic and rare antique Swiss Black Forest hand carved bear piano stool. Carved in the form of a seated bear holding in his massive paw a tree stump. Surmounted with a circular extendable revolving seat for height adjustment. The finely carved bear figure is of solid wood, exquisitely detailed and expertly worked with cross-hatching to resemble fur, lovely detailed paws and head. Great facial expression with opened mouth painted red, with tongue exposed and teeth bared in a wide grin! Finished with a pair of glass eyes, which gives wonderful sense of realism adding to the whimsical charm of this unique bear. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. There are some old stable stress cracks to the figure. Measures 18 5/8" height, 15 1/2" width x 11 1/2" depth. Extended measures 25" total height. Seat measures 11" diameter.
