Antique late 19th century Swiss Black Forest hand carved wood platter or tray, by Emile Egger of Interlaken Switzerland. Expertly worked from solid wood, with exquisite raised relief and fine details. Featuring the Biblical quote from the Lord's Prayer, in large letters in French: 'Donnez nous notre pain quotidien' / 'Give us our daily bread'. Above a pictorial of a sheaf of wheat with farming tools such as a scythe, representing harvest and bounty. Finished with edelweiss flowers and leaves. Retains the old label to the back, reads Chalet Minerve, Emile Egger, ci devant Sesti & Brugger , fabricant de sculptures artistiques , Jnterlaken. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with use and age. Measures 13 3/8" x 10 1/2" oval.
