LARGE Fabulous Black Forest style carved wood bear statue. The bear is entirely carved of solid wood. Exquisitely detailed and expertly worked with cross-hatching to resemble fur, lovely details to the face. Having glass eyes. Mouth open set in a wide grin with teeth bared! The imposing figure stands with paws on an hollowed tree trunk. The size is ideal for displaying a bottle of wine or decanter in your cabin bar, or a collection of old cane handles or antique shoe horns next to a carved chair in the entryway, this bear can be used for a number of decorating possibilities. In overall good vintage condition with general wear. The tree trunk portion was crafted from two pieces as shown, and appears to have had repairs or touch-ups to the seam, this is visible from the sides of the piece. There are some age cracks to the wood at the back of the bear as shown. Heavy piece, weighs 13lbs alone! Stands 18 1/2" tall x 7 5/8" wide x 11 1/2" deep. The tree stump has a 5 1/2" diameter opening and is 8 1/4" deep.
