Delightful antique Black Forest hand carved wood liquor tantalus, liqueur stand. Expertly hand carved portraying the figure of a hiking bear. Dating to the late 19th century to early 20th century. Beautiful detail throughout, the paws and head skillfully worked and the body finished with intricate cross-hatching to emphasize fur. Expressive features include a wide open mouth set in a grin to greet viewers, painted a vibrant red with tongue exposed and white teeth bared. Finished with a pair of glass eyes, adding to the beauty and whimsical charm of this unique bear. The fully dimensional solid wood figure is depicted standing upright on hind legs, one paw around a walking stick for the journey. Supporting the liquor caddy on his back, artfully carved to resemble a large tree trunk. The base is signed by the carver 'EREM'. The glassware on this bear comprises of a stoppered decanter for liquor or wine, together with matching set of six cordial glasses / goblets. The hand blown glass is a striking electric blue color, richly decorated in raised enamel with red berries and green leaves. The decanter features a colorful bird perched in the berry tree. A fun and whimsical piece to delight guests and enjoy on the table. In overall good antique condition with some general wear commensurate with age. No chips or cracks to the glassware set, the base of the stopper with a bruise to the very bottom. The bear caddy alone measures 12 1/4" length front to back x 8 3/4" widest across x 11" height. The decanter measures 10" height x 3 1/4" wide, cordials are 3 3/8" height x 1 3/8" diameter opening.
