An extraordinary antique Black forest hand carved wood liquor tantalus. Skillfully carved from solid wood with the figure of a charming bear in a delightful standing pose holding a cordial glass in his paws as though ready to toast, cheers! Beautiful rendering and lovely detail throughout, with painted details on the face. The liquor caddy is carved to resemble a hollowed out tree trunk, with branches artfully worked to act as supports for the cordial glasses. In overall very good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. The clear glassware on this bear is decorated with hand painted gold accents, and comprises of a stoppered decanter for liquor or wine together with six matching cordial glasses / goblets. A fun and whimsical piece to delight guests and enjoy on the table this holiday season for an after dinner aperitif. The glassware is in good condition with some wear to the gilt accents, some chips to the base of the stopper. Stands 11" total height with the decanter in place, 11 1/8" length x 7" wide.
