A gorgeous antique Art Nouveau sterling silver mounted liquor or whisky hip flask made by Gorham, circa 1892. Featuring exquisite gilt sterling silver mounts. Comprising of a hinged lid with twist and lock closure and cork lined interior, opulent collar and removable drinking cup attached to the base. Decorated in sumptuous Art Nouveau styling to the sterling mounts, including exquisite C-scrolls among wave like motifs, spiral fluting, scrolling foliage, stylized rocailles and floral garland swags. Bearing an engraved monogram of initials, appears to be ADS in fanciful script. The glass high-shouldered body of the flask is decorated with elaborate floral forms and sinuous scrolling leaves done in high relief, embossed with engraving. In very good condition with no chips or cracks to the glass flask. The sterling mounts are in good order, with general wear and scratches from use and handling. Bearing the Gorham hallmarks of a lion, anchor and letter G, this particular mark was used from 1863-1890s. Marked STERLING, numbers 39 and S965, also bearing a year mark for 1892. Measures 5 7/8" length x 3" width.
