Antique Belle Epoque French sterling silver mounted cut crystal ewer or carafe. Charming clear hand blown crystal bulbous form with cut fluting to the body and neck. Hand painted in raised enamel flowers and musical motifs. Mounted in .950 silver. The decoration includes fluting enhanced with applied floral garland swags and a quiver of arrows with ribbon bow detail. Finished with a scrolled handle embellished with scaled motif and foliate. A silver rim circles the base. Hallmarks to the hinged lid, collar and handle. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Maker's marks are double stamped or over stamped, but appear to be that of silversmith Henri Soufflot, active 1884-1910 at 89 rue de Turbigo, Paris. Stands 7 1/2" height. In overall good condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, the lid does not close completely as shown and there appears to be a small bit of detail missing from the ribbon bow adorning the torch at the front.
