Outstanding antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver and cut crystal 4-piece tumble up set, bedside carafe service or service de nuit. Stylish and functional, these hard to find "bonne nuit" tumble-up sets are ideal for serving up a nighttime refreshment and lovely to display on a nightstand or dresser. Comprising of a carafe, tumbler glass, tray and stoppered vial insert. Of fine quality crystal with wheel cut fluting and engraved foliage. Decorated with sterling silver mounts finished in gold vermeil. Retains the rare glass vial insert with stopper, ideal for adding a touch of flavored extract or liquor for a night cap. Wheel cut starbursts adorn the base of the drinking glass and tray. Of note is the raised center well on the tray, for ice chips to keep your refreshment chilled during warm summer nights. The sterling mounts are hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her indicating a silver content of .950/1000 silver (95% pure silver and a higher than .925 sterling). Also bearing maker's marks for Parisian silversmiths Pot & Cie, circa 1908 to 1912, whose workshop was located at 97 boulevard Sébastopol in Paris. Complete and housed within the original presentation box. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with use and age. Some dents to the sterling collar on the decanter and tumbler. The entire piece assembled stands 8 1/2" tall. The carafe alone stands 6" tall x 4 3/8" wide. Tumbler measures 3 5/8" height x 2 1/2" diameter opening. The tray is 7 3/4" diameter. Presentation box does show its age and measures 12 1/2" x 9 3/4" x 6 1/4" tall.
