Antique Black Forest hand carved wood liquor tantalus, liqueur stand. A rare example depicting a pair of upright standing bears, twins! Supporting between them the liquor caddy stand, containing a stoppered decanter and matching set of six cordial glasses. The bears are beautifully hand carved, each of solid wood and finely modeled with exquisite detail throughout. The paws and head skillfully worked, the fur emphasized with intricate cross-hatching technique. In a charming standing pose with expressive features, including a wide open mouth set into a grin to greet viewers painted a vibrant red with tongue exposed and teeth bared. The liquor set is chartreuse green glass hand painted in raised gold enamel patterned with leaves and roses, the cordial glasses on clear applied stems. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age. The glassware is in good condition. Stands 9 1/2" total height with the decanter in place, 13 1/4" length and 6 1/8" width.
