Exquisite antique Belle Epoque era French gilt bronze box. Richly decorated in raised relief with animalier study featuring finely modeled mice, lizards, snails and insects against a naturalistic wood textured surface. Centered by a lock. The hinged lid opening to reveal a silk lined interior hand painted with flowers and leaves. Resting on four bun feet. Signed on the base: A La Marquise de Sevigne Paris. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Wear to the gilding on the lid from years of handling. Lacking a key for the lock.
