An antique Belle Epoque era French .800 silver mounted glass parasol handle or dress cane handle. The tapering handle is crafted of solid glass in a gorgeous amethyst purple color. Decorated with ornate .800 silver mounts. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age. Measures 2 3/4" length x 7/8" diameter at its widest. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. The mark was typically used on small objects of at least 80% pure silver content. Bearing maker’s mark for silversmith Maria Remy, (indeed a woman ‘Maître Orfèvre’), active 1894-1924. Her shop was located 13 Rue Thévenot in Paris.
