Antique 19th century French silver chatelaine belt clip richly decorated with Louis XVI style ornamentation. The belt clip features a center medallion in raised relief, depicting a putti figure holding a floral garland, surrounded by stylized foliate and openwork. Below the medallion is a hook. Suspending two long side chains connecting to a swivel clip. Belt clip to the back is hinged and has a loop at the top and at the bottom. Marked with the French head of the wild boar for .800/1000 silver. Measures 15 3/4" total length, the decorative front of the belt clip measures 2 3/8" height from top to the bottom of the hook x 1 1/2" wide. Weighs 28.3 grams. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use.
