Antique late 19th century French kiln-fired enamel on copper snuff or patch box. Featuring a Rococo style scene of a couple in a charming pastoral setting with cottages and mountains in the distance. Finished with silver hinged mounts bearing the French head of the wild boar hallmark in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. The enamel work on this piece is stunning. Measures 2 1/8" diameter x 7/8" height. In overall good antique condition, some general surface wear to the base commensurate with age and use, a flea-bite or two to the bottom edge near the silver rim as shown in the photos.
