Antique French 19th century oil painting on canvas. Depicting a female seminude bathing in a river, sitting on the river's edge on a cloth and fur skin, note the paw partially hidden under the cloth drape. Her feet splashing playfully in the water, her arms upwards holding a tree branch. Subtle play of light in the dark forest. She wears a pearl necklace and gold bracelets on her wrists and ankles. Beautiful forest background with a mountain in the distance. Signed lower left V.Prost. Attributed to Victor Prost (1842-1912). Measures 12 7/8" x 9 5/8" x 3/4" deep. In overall good to fair antique condition. Craquelure and darkened varnish. A few spots of paint loss at the far right side.
