Antique 19th century French School charcoal drawing on paper. Academic study, student work, life drawing full length portrait of a muscular nude male, standing pose, frontal view with one arm raised. Unsigned. Measures 23 3/8" x 17 3/4". Unframed. In overall good antique condition for age and type, rough deckle edge. Folded over corner on the upper right. Some creases and few 3/4" tears on the sides. Drawing from live models was part of academic 19th-century art training, still to this day, as well as a way that artists typically made preparatory studies for paintings.
