A charming oil on canvas portrait / still life painting of four kittens in an interior. By Dutch artist Jan Van Trirum (1924-2011). Portraying four mischievous kittens, as they play with a ball of yarn and trinket boxes, against a draped background. The artist captured the personality of each kitten, their curiosity and playfulness. The colors are warm and cozy in this scene, with lovely composition and naturalistic rendering to the cats. Signed lower left J.W. TRIRUM. The canvas measures 19 3/4” x 15 3/4" The gilt wood composition frame measures 26 3/4" x 22 3/4" x 2 3/4" deep . In good condition overall. A couple of little lacks to the frame visible in the pictures.
Dutch artist Jan van Trirum was born on February 21, 1924 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He died on September 21, 2011 in a small town of Wolphaartsdijk. His full name was Johannes Wouterus van Trirum. Jan studied at the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Academy of Visual Arts) in Rotterdam and was a student of Mr Heyboer (father of famous artist Anton Heyboer) and Mr Van Oort. He also made educational visits to Italy and France. Jan painted realistic paintings of animals in naturalist settings, including kittens, dogs, horses, cows, ducks and also sea views. He also made city views of Rotterdam and Dordrecht. Jan was a member of the International Organization of Free Art.
