A charming antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver serving set for tea or coffee. Comprising of a sugar sifter spoon, sugar tongs and circular teapot spout strainer. The decoration along the handles include C-scrolls, florals and scrolled shell motifs. The sugar tongs are finished with stylized lion paws tipped with fierce claws. Sugar sifter spoon features a finely pierced scalloped / seashell shaped bowl. Tea strainer features spiral fluted and pierced bowl surrounded by florals and scrolling foliate. In overall good condition. The tea strainer is likely not original to the set, though compliments the other pieces nicely and fits in the box. Housed in a cream satin and velvet lined fitted presentation box showing its age. Please see pictures for measurements. Silver weighs a total of 164.8 grams. All three pieces are hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Maker's marks for silversmith Léontine Compère, active 1888-1919 at 79 rue Quincampoix, Paris. The tea strainer bearing maker's marks for Charles Tirbour, active from 1897 at 8 rue des Haudriette, Paris.
