
A charming antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver sugar sifter spoon. The elegant pierced bowl further decorated with fine engraving. Exquisite Renaissance styling to the handle, richly decorated with stylized foliage, the back of the service end with a detailed mascaron of a Green Man or satyr figure. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, depicting the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of .950/1000 (95% silver and higher than the standard .925 for sterling silver). Bearing silversmith's marks for Louis Coignet, active 1889-1893 at 14 rue Barbette, Paris. In overall good condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. The sugar sifter spoons measures 7 3/4” length x 2 1/2" wide bowl. Weighs 60.5 grams. Housed in the original presentation box, the box measures 10 1/8” x 4” x 1 3/4” height. The presentation box shows wear and does not close flush.
