
Antique mid 19th century French gilt bronze jewelry casket, richly decorated throughout with fine enameling, circa 1860's. Featuring five enamel on convex copper panels. The panels feature beautifully painted white grisaille decoration with gold gilt accents, against a rich blue ground with Japonisme style motifs of morning glories, water lilies and reed plants on a waters edge, the lid portraying a mallard duck in flight. The panels are housed in opulent gilt bronze framework, resting on four cabriole legs. The front center with a lock, however lacking the key. Opening to reveal the original silk satin lining. In overall good antique condition with general wear/surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Measures 6 1/8" length x 3 7/8" width x 3" height.
