Antique early 19th century French triple tea caddy box. Rosewood veneer inlaid to the exterior with fruitwood or satinwood inlay, mother of pearl and brass floral sprays inlaid to the front and lid. Opening to a satinwood interior housing three beautifully hand painted Paris porcelain tea canisters. Featuring two tea canisters with stoppers and a central lidded container for housing sugar or perhaps ideal for creating a mélange with tea leaves out of the two other containers.
Tea caddy measures 10 7/8” length x 5 5/8” width x 6” tall. The porcelain tea canisters measures 4 7/8" height x 3 5/8" length x 2 3/4" width.
Condition: In overall good to fair antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Lacking a key for the lock. Age-related cracks in the wood; there appears to be a touch up to the veneer to the front below the lock, to some lacks in the fruitwood stringing, to the side back edge a piece of fruitwood stringing is lifting. To the lid, there is a lifting at the back left corner. As shown, the lid does not sit flush at the close. The central bottle for sugar has a hair line crack and repairs to the edge, visible in the close up images.
