Antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver figural egg cup. Beautifully crafted to resemble a cracked egg shell with engraved monogram of interlaced initials GD. Resting on a solid casted base comprising of leaves and berries with the fully dimensional figures of a hen and baby chick. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark indicating a silver content of .950/1000 silver. Bearing maker's mark for silversmith Hector, Alfred Hector, active 1881-1913 at his workshop located at 25 Rue Palestro in Paris. In overall good antique condition with general wear. Measures 3 1/4" height x 1 5/8" diameter opening. Weighs 99.6 grams.
