Antique Georgian sterling silver vinaigrette made by one of the well known Birmingham silversmiths of the 19th century, Thomas Shaw. Features rectangular form with engine turn engraving. Blank rectangular cartouche. Decorate floral edge to the thumbpiece. Opens to reveal a silver gilt interior and pierced grill in the style that Shaw is known for, having a central flower and fine scrolled detail. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1831. In good to fair antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. There is a lack to one knuckle on the back hinge as shown. The grille is wobbly and would likely benefit from a new pin. Measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/8" x 3/8". Weighs 21.9g.
