Pair of large Art Deco French Sevres ceramic vases by Paul Jean Milet, son of Felix Optatus Milet. Optat Milet began his career as a modeler for Sèvres in 1862, and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. His son Paul Jean Milet took over operations shortly before the turn of the century and ran the company until 1931. The factory operated for a total of 105 years before its closure in 1971. Stunning vases of baluster form featuring gorgeous blue flambe glaze set within wrought iron metal mounts. Including a collar and base finished with a textured surface and applied with roses and leaves. Flanked on the sides by swooping handles applied with leaves. In good condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. No chips or cracks, there are some scratches to the glaze. There is oxidation to the metal mounts. Slight variance in dimensions: One vase measures 16" height x 12 3/8" wide across the handles x 7 3/8" deep at the base, 3 1/4" diameter at the top rim. The other measures 15 7/8" height x 12 1/4" wide across the handles x 7 1/2" deep at the base, 3 1/4" diameter at the top rim.
