A superb quality vintage mahogany architectural model of a staircase, often referred to as a master carpenter's apprentice piece or a furniture maker's salesman sample. A detailed miniature scale model, or maquette, historically used by architects or furniture makers to showcase advanced woodworking skill or design concepts and serve as decorative display pieces. Features intricately turned balusters, a curved handrail, and a circular landing and base. In overall good vintage condition with general wear commensurate with use and age, I do see one of the balusters at the descending volute is out of alignment in the socket. Ideal for an architect’s collection or for an avid collector to display in beautiful surroundings, these miniature model staircases were popularized in interiors by the iconic designer Bill Blass. Measures 24" length x 12 5/8" wide x 14 1/8" height.
