Antique 19th century Victorian era 14k yellow gold brooch with an exquisite hand painted enamel miniature portrait plaque. Likely Swiss in origin. Featuring a beautifully executed and finely detailed oval portrait in polychrome enamel depicting a romantic scene of a couple in a pastoral setting. The enamel portrait is backed by a mother of pearl panel. Set within a hand crafted 14k yellow gold mount, embellished by an engraved decorative border. Adorned with 38 baroque pearls around the perimeter measuring an average size of 3.80mm x 3.60mm. Features a C-shaped clasp with a hinged gold T-pin. Measures 1 15/16" x 1 5/8". The brooch weighs 16.0 grams. In overall good antique condition for age and type with general wear commensurate with age and use. There is a surface scratch at the center on the gentleman's arm, a crescent shaped scratch near the bottom of the scene at the 6 'o'clock position. There is a nick in the enamel partially hidden by the gold mount, located in the tree above at the 10 'o'clock position.
