
Antique Belle Epoque era French bronze jewelry box featuring a miniature portrait depicting a secret rendez-vous of two amorous lovers. The gouache portrait is housed under glass and is a small rendering of Nicolas Delaunay's 1775 painting Les Soins Tardifs (The Belated Care). The box is oval shaped, intricately decorated with an ornate neoclassical frieze. Hinged lid opens to reveal a dark blue velvet lined interior. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, wear long the edges of the portrait. Measures 4 1/8" x 3 1/2" x 1 3/8".
