Antique French Directoire to Empire period hand painted miniature portrait, circa late 1700s to early 1800s. Depicting a semi-nude woman in Greek-inspired, sleeveless and low bodice gown wearing a pearl head piece and coral earring, likely an aristocratic follower of the marvelous Incroyables and Merveilleuses movement. Unsigned. Housed under glass in an opulent dore bronze frame with shell and floral corner elements, topped by an ornate ribbon bow finial. Easel backing. In overall good antique condition. Frame measures 5 3/4" height x 5" wide x 5/8" deep. The portrait measures 2 1/4" diameter (sight).
