Large French Sevres ceramic vase by Paul Milet, son of Felix Optatus Milet. The vase features a 'moon flask' shape and is done in a beautiful mottled blue flambe glaze. Decorated further with gilt bronze or brass mounts comprising of a beaded rim flanked by Art Nouveau handles embellished with roses and a base patterned with foliage. Marked for Paul Millet and Sevres, within a dotted circle, this mark was in use circa 1911. Marked FRANCE on the base. In very good condition with no chips or cracks, there are a couple of small flea-bites to the inside edge of the rim as shown. General wear/patina to the metal mounts. Stands 13 1/2" height x 9 1/2" width. Optat Milet began his career as a modeler for Sèvres in 1862, and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. His son Paul Jean Milet took over operations shortly before the turn of the century and ran the company until 1931.
