A fabulous antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver sugar shaker, caster or muffineer. The caster features a cut crystal body enhanced with spiral fluting. The sterling mounts feature a motif of Louis XVI/Rococo style rocailles. The lid with elegant spiral fluting and rocailles, with floral form pierce work and topped by a superb casted finial resembling stylized foliage. The interior of the lid is enhanced in gold vermeil finish and there is gold vermeil decorating the bottom rim. Finished with a beautiful silver collar and circular pedestal base. In good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Stands 7" tall x 2 5/8" at its widest. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her indicating a silver content of .950/1000 silver (95% silver and a higher grade of finesse than .925 for sterling). Bearing maker's marks for silversmith Alfred Hector, active 1881 to 1913 at 25 rue Palestro, Paris. The collar also bears the name L.Lapar for the silversmith and retailer Leon Lapar
