Large antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver jardinière table centerpiece, cache pot. Impressive and heavy piece, featuring a boat shape flanked by thick casted handles and raised on four ornate feet. Sumptuously decorated in Louis XVI/Rococo styling, the entire body decorated in magnificent pierce-work. The decoration comprising of intricate tracery, scrolls, palmettes and florals. Embellished further in raised relief with neoclassical style garland swags and oval medallion cartouches framed by wreathes and ribbon bows. The size and rich decoration make this piece just a perfect visual display, just stunning brimming with fruits or a festive floral arrangement. An exceptional piece of antique French sterling silver, to grace the finest of tables. Retains its original metal liner. Large size, measures 17 5/8" in length x 7" wide x 5 1/2" tall. Heavy and impressive, the silver weighs 1412 grams. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Some shallow dents to the very bottom of the base. Thoroughly hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, in use from 1838, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her denoting a silver content of .950/1000 (95% pure silver and higher than the standard .925 for sterling silver). Bearing a maker’s mark for silversmith Henri Ofti, active 1890 to 1903 at 8 rue Bisson, Paris. Also bearing psuedo marks of a crowned S.
