
Antique French sterling silver wine taster sommelier cup, tastevin from the Empire period (1798-1809) features the "First Coq" hallmark and Paris Guarantee mark. Featuring an intricate motif of repousse grape clusters and leaves on the vine. Inset at the base with a Ludovicus XV Rex Christianissimus medal. Curled thumbpiece handle allows the tastevin to be worn suspended from a chain. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, some shallow indentions to the bowl. Measures 4 1/8" length x 3 1/4" width x 1" height to the top of the thumbpiece. Weighs 86.5 grams.
