Antique French sterling silver set comprising of twelve teaspoons, an over the cup tea strainer and sugar tongs all housed within the original presentation box. The set features intricate openwork and detail with a motif of sunflowers, poppies and thistle. Lovely gilt vermeil accents. Hallmarks include the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of .950/1000 silver. Bearing makers marks for Maillard Frères & Vazou, active 1897 to 1903 at 13 rue de Turenne, Paris. I could not find hallmarks on the tea strainer but it tests as silver. Total silver weight is 263.3 grams. Spoons measure 5" length. Tea strainer measures 5 1/2" x 1 3/4" wide bowl. Sugar tongs measure 5" length. Box measures 13 1/8" x 11" x 2 1/8". In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. The box having a split in the wood at the bottom.
