
A gorgeous Art Nouveau French sterling silver 24-piece flatware service. The set comprises of 12 forks and 12 spoons for luncheon or dessert. The handles are magnificently decorated with Art Nouveau foliage, flower buds of peony blossoms and stylized acanthus. The floral motif is reiterated on the service ends of the forks and spoons. In good condition with general wear/surface scratches. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Maker's marks for Parisian silversmith Alphonse Debain, active from 1883-1911 at 79 rue du Temple, Paris. Spoons are 7 1/2" length. Forks are 7 7/16" length. Total silver weight of 1202.5 grams. The set is complete and housed within fitted presentation box. Presentation box showing its age. Box measures 10 1/4" x 8 1/4" x 2" height.
