Charming antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver dessert server, pastry, cake or pie server. Housed in the original presentation box. The handle features an elegant motif of neoclassical leaves and berries and rosettes. The blade is enhanced with gold vermeil finish, beautifully engraved with stylized acanthus, leaves and berries, trailing ribbon and a rosette detail. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, in use from 1838 the mark depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to indicate a silver content of .950/1000 silver (95% silver and a higher grade of finesse than the standard .925 for sterling). In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Measures 11 1/8" length x 2 5/8" width. Silver weighs 134 grams. Box measures 12 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 1 5/8" height.
