An incredible set of three 18K gold French hair combs housed in the original presentation box, circa 1900. The trio includes a pair of matching hair combs together with a larger comb. Each decorated with gorgeous 18k yellow gold mounts on celluloid. Patterned with classic Louis XVI style criss-cross ribbon and reed ornamentation. Enhanced with diamond chips set into white gold. Each gold mount is hallmarked with the French eagle standard in use after 1838, denoting a finesse of 18k gold. In good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. The largest hair comb lacking two tines, with chipping to the far left tine, as shown. The presentation box showing wear commensurate with age. Monogrammed S.L. Marked for the jeweler Artéon of Bayonne, France. The larger comb measures 3 5/8" length x 2" height, the smaller combs are 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" height. Box measures 6 1/8" x 5 1/8" x 1 3/4" tall. The box is 5" x 5 1/4" x 2 1/8".
