
Antique 19th century French silver gilt vinaigrette locket pendant. Of rectangular form with serpentine edging, hand engraved with flowers and flourishes with an engine-turned inner field. Opening to reveal a finely pierced and engraved grille decorated with scrolling. Richly enhanced in gold vermeil finish. In overall very good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Measures (sans bail) 1" x 3/4" wide x 1/8" thick, with bail the pendant hangs 1 3/8". Weighs 7.3g. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000 typically used on small objects.
