Antique 19th century French silver mounted writer's wax seal or desk stamp with semi-precious stone handle. The exquisite wheel cut faceted handle is of solid banded agate. Exhibiting such beautiful coloration, selected for its intricate contrasting stripes. This gorgeous agate specimen features striped bands of white or pale hues contrasting with rich coffee and caramel colors, one side with a polish geode or cluster of quartz crystals. Decorated with ornate embossed silver mount, the matrix bearing a monogram of interlaced initials GH or HG. Hallmarked with the head of the wild boar, a French standard mark denoting a silver content of .800/1000 silver. Also bearing a maker's mark. Housed in the original fitted presentation box. In overall good antique condition with general wear. Measures 2 3/4" length. The box measures 3 7/8" x 2" x 1 3/8" height.
