Antique French .800 silver mounted wax seal with a banded agate stone handle. The faceted cut handle is carved from solid agate stone, and features gorgeous banding with coffee and caramel colors terminating to white and cream colors. Decorated with an ornate embossed silver mount, the matrix bearing monogram of initials M.M. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000 .The mark was typically used on small objects of at least 80% silver content. In good antique condition. Measures 2 1/8" length.
