Antique French mother of pearl wax seal desk stamp housed in the original box. Featuring a solid mother of pearl handle embellished with carved coral fly or insect. The handle tapers to ornate .800 silver mounts with engraved monogram of interlaced initials LB or BL. Marked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. Bearing a maker's mark, though difficult to decipher it appears to be that of Emile Taburet (active 1868-1881 at 3 rue Pasquier, Paris. In good condition with general wear. Measures 3 1/2" length. The presentation box shows its age, measures 4 1/4" x 1 1/8" height.
