A rare antique 19th century Napoleon III era French bronze figural holy water font, stoup or bénitier. Featuring an exquisite and heavy casted bronze figure of an angel. Fully dimensional and beautifully modeled with lifelike rendering to the face and hands. The angel is depicted kneeling on a stylized coquille shell with clusters of lily flowers below. Looking upwards, the angel has one hand clasped to the heart while the other holds the cross of Jesus Christ. Fine details throughout, especially to the feathers of the wings and cascading folds of cloth. Mounted onto a black ebonized wood wall plaque. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. There is an old repaired crack to the left side of the wood plaque. Measures 14 ¾” height x 6 7/8” across x 3 3/8” deep.
