A rare antique 19th century French Chinoiserie figural inkstand. Featuring a unique reniform shaped red lacquered tray enhanced with gilt bronze mounts, resting on three bun feet. Surmounted by three porcelain figures hand painted in bright colors. With two porcelain inkwells modeled as seated figures holding large baskets, topped by gilt bronze covers and hinged lids. The ink pots open to reveal glass liners. To the center is a figure of a smiling deity holding a toad with its mouth open to serve as a pen holder. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with use. No chips or cracks to the porcelain. One of the glass liners is damaged as shown. Measures 10 5/8" length x 7 3/8" width and stands 7" total height.
