Antique Napoleon III era French kiln-fired enamel and gilt bronze jewelry casket. The box features five exquisite kiln-fired enamel on convex copper plaques, each with a pastoral scene. Decorating the lid is a portrait of a lady seated in a garden, reading a love letter and with a white dove beside her. Encased in gilt bronze mounts and resting on four ornate feet. The hinged lid opens to reveal a tufted satin lined interior. In overall very good condition with general wear to the bronze mounts commensurate with age and use. Interior and base lining showing wear. Dimensions (including feet) 4 3/8" length x 3 1/8" width x 2 1/2" tall.
