Antique French gilt bronze ormolu candle holder. Decorated with three finely sculpted porcelain flowers attached to a weaving foliate vine with detailed ormolu leaves. Topped with foliate drip-pan and nozzle. The center features an ox blood red / sang de boeuf glazed ceramic figurine. Beautifully modeled as a sitting dog with glass eyes, a King Charles spaniel perhaps. Mounted on an ornate base with stylized acanthus leaves and resting on four foliage form feet. Marked on the base 'Made in France'. Circa early 1900s. Stands 7 1/8" height x 4 14" wide at the base. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. One or two chips to the porcelain flowers, it's possible there may be a couple of missing flowers among the foliage. No chips or cracks to the lovely dog figurine. The candle holder does have a hole to allow for professional wiring to be converted into a lamp if desired. This delightful candle holder will add whimsical charm to your decor, the pop of red in the dog is eye catching, display on a desk, side table or vanity.
