Gorgeous antique French silver mounted wax seal, or desk stamp, with a banded agate handle. Decorated with an ornate embossed silver mount, the matrix bearing monogram of initials G.D. The solid cut agate handle features gorgeous banding, with mottled blend of coffee and caramel/toffee colors with pale stripes. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000 .The mark was typically used on small objects of at least 80% pure silver content. In good antique condition. There is a nick in the agate, it could be a natural imperfection in the stone and is visible in the pictures. Measures 3 3/4"
