Antique 19th century French white opaline glass box. Featuring a unique melon bombe style form finished with gilt painted accents. Decorated in finely casted gilt bronze mounts including a cartouche lock plate, ornate finial, and handles. The base resting on four stylized acanthus and ball feet. Measures 6 1/2" length x 4" wide x 5 1/2" height. In overall good antique condition with wear commensurate with age and use. Lacking a key. No chips to the glass. A small bruise as shown on the edge of the lid and one side of the hinge with a flaw. There are a couple of stress lines to the exterior of the glass from the making, they do not penetrate through the glass and do not detract from the beauty of the box.
