Antique early 19th century French Palais Royal wax seal. Dating to the 1820s - 1830s Bourbon Restoration Era. Featuring an exquisitely carved handle crafted from solid mother of pearl. Mounted with a silver matrix. The matrix bearing a cross above a cursive letter H flanked on either side by olive branches. The silver mount is hallmarked with the French head of the hare indicating a silver content of .800/1000 and was typically used on small items. The mark is a guarantee mark (poinçon de garantie) placed by the Bureau de Garantie de Paris and was in use from 1819-1838. Also bearing a silversmith maker's mark. Measures 3" length x 1 1/4" wide, matrix is 1/2" x 7/16". In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use.
