This figurine is masterfully detailed, beautifully hand painted in tiny brushstrokes in an array of bright, bold colors. Quite a charming piece and subject matter, this figurine holds both a touch of whimsy and comical innocence! Dressed in a bright robins egg blue military regalia with feather plumed hat, our monkey friend looks posed and ready for battle with a silver-gilt edged sword in hand! Clad in a brown collar edge by gilt trimming, his grey hound dog companion stands at the ready in a playful stance with tail wagging and wearing a particularly whimsical expression with his big, red mouth a-grin!
Applied porcelain flowers and foliate adorn the base. Marked with a pair of crossed arrows between Porcelaine de Paris and Made in France for Bourdois & Bloch, founded in 1887 in Paris.
The figurine is in very good condition.
