Large antique French Sevres porcelain round serpentine and double handled tray or plateau. Centered by a finely hand painted vignette, depicting a still life of fruit and flowers on a marbled ledge against a beautiful serene blue sky. The quality of the scene is reminiscent of the old Dutch / Flemish tradition, exhibiting fine details and strong realism. The still life is abundant and inviting, comprising of a plethora of delicious fruit nestled among vibrant leaves. Including pears, peaches, grapes, plums, gooseberries, apricots, framed by purple and yellow pansy flowers, forget me nots and morning glories. Hidden among the delicious arrangement are various insects, including a bumble bee, ants, a lady bug and butterflies. Surrounded by an intricate gilt floral border. On a bleu lapis or faux lapis lazuli ground, enhanced with gilt accents. Flanked by reticulated handles patterned as stylized foliate with gilt highlights. Simply beautiful. Measures 13 1/8" x 12" x 1 5/8" height. Marked to the reverse with a Severs interlaced L's and a symbol or letter within. Incised with numbers 14 and 24. In overall very good antique condition. Some wear to the gilding, and some scratches present in the center, as expectant from age and use. A small gilded over chip to the side of the handle as shown, and another smaller one on the bottom edge of the gold rim.
