Antique French Sevres Porcelain Plate Gilt & Blue Lapis Border, Hand Painted Pastoral Scene
Large antique French Sevres porcelain hand painted tray or charger. Centered by an exquisite hand painted vignette, exhibiting fine details and beautiful vivid colors. Partly after Francois Boucher's 1768 painting titled Landscape with Kirschpflückerin (Cherry Picker). Featuring a charming country scene, portraying a group of shepherds harvesting cherries. A flock of sheep is seen resting in the background, and a black and white dog, a border collie perhaps is included in the scene. To the right is a mule laden with baskets overflowing with their bounty of cherries. All surrounded by lush pastoral setting and a serene blue sky. Finished with an intricate gilt floral trim and border hand painted to resemble bleu lapis / lapis lazuli. Flanked by reticulated handles. Measures 13 1/8" x 12" x 1 5/8" height. Marked to the reverse with Severs interlaced L's. Incised with numbers 14 and 24. In overall very good antique condition. Some wear to the gilding, and some scratches present in the center, as expectant from age and use. There is a chip to the back of the rim as shown, not visible from the front.
