French gilt bronze 3pc desk set by Maurice Frecourt. Circa 1920s. The set comprising of a dish, letter opener and figural wax seal desk stamp, all housed in the original presentation box. Each piece features an art nouveau motif of wisteria flowers and leaves. To the wax seal is a matrix bearing a monogram of initials JV. In overall good antique to vintage condition with general wear commensurate with age and use.

Dish: 3 1/2" length x 2 1/2" wide x 3/4" height. Wax seal: 3 1/2" height x 1 1/4" wide x 5/8" deep, the matrix is 3/4" diameter. Letter opener: 6 1/8" length x 3/4" widest. Box measures 8 1/4" length x 4 1/2" width x 1 1/4" height.
Fabulous set with signature indicating the French sculptor Maurice Frecourt (1890-1961). Maurice Frecourt was an in important artist during the art deco period specializing in Animalier sculpture. He was born in Charenton in 1890. A pupil of Charles Valton, Antonin Mercié and Jean Boucher at the Beaux-Arts. He became well known after his work was exhibited from 1920 at Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. His sculptures often included office accessories / bureau decor. His work has been compared to sculptures from Louis Carvin and Max Le Verrier.
